The Chestnut Tree Teahouse & Bistro, situated at 107 W. Hickory St., will cease operations at its current site on July 19. The establishment has served the Denton community since opening on June 23, 1994. Owners announced the closure via Facebook, noting that the property is being sold and a new tenant will occupy the space shortly.
While the physical bistro is ending, the owners confirmed that Chestnut Tree Catering will remain active. The business joins a series of recent closures along Hickory Street and near the downtown square, including Patchouli Joe's Books & Indulgences, which shut down in late March. Other local spots that have recently closed include Andy's Bar, Mellow Mushroom, Vinyl Lounge, and Viet Bites.
Details regarding the specific financial terms of the building sale or the identity of the incoming business are not yet clear.
