DENTON, Texas — The City of Denton has announced its Independence Day holiday operating schedule, with city administrative offices closing Friday, July 3, in observance of the holiday.

Denton Public Libraries will be closed both Friday, July 3, and Saturday, July 4, reopening Sunday, July 5. The Linda McNatt Animal Care and Adoption Center will also be closed both days, resuming operations Monday, July 6.

Most recreation centers — including Denia, Martin Luther King Jr., and North Lakes — will remain open Friday, July 3, but will close Saturday, July 4, resuming normal hours Sunday, July 6. North Lakes Recreation Center will then close July 6 through July 25 for scheduled maintenance. Aquatic facilities including Water Works Park and the Civic Center Pool will operate normal hours both Friday and Saturday.

Solid waste and recycling collection will not be impacted by the holiday. Denton Municipal Court will be closed July 3, though online and phone payments remain available 24 hours a day. Public safety operations including police, fire, and emergency medical services will remain fully staffed throughout the holiday weekend.

Denton residents are encouraged to check the city's website at cityofdenton.com for a complete list of facility hours and service adjustments. The city also reminded residents of its new Text Denton SMS alert system, which provides non-emergency updates on closures, construction, and community events.
