Neto Dominates Offensively
Neto delivered a standout offensive performance, collecting five hits and driving in seven runs to power the Los Angeles Angels past the Houston Astros with an 18-3 victory on Friday. The slugger contributed significantly throughout the game, including a three-run home run in the fifth inning that extended the Angels' lead.
Neto’s night began early. He singled to right field in the first inning, allowing Meckler to score and give Los Angeles an early 1-0 advantage. His impact continued in the fourth inning when he singled to left, scoring Frazier and advancing Trout and Meckler.
Later in that same frame, Neto scored on a double by Grissom and was later put into scoring position himself before eventually crossing the plate.
His most explosive moment came in the fifth inning when Neto homered to center field, measuring 428 feet. That blast cleared the bases, adding three runs to the scoreboard and pushing the score to 14-2. He added another double in the seventh inning, scoring two more runs with that hit.
Angels’ Offense Explodes Early
The Los Angeles Angels jumped on Astros pitching immediately, building a lead that would never be threatened. After Neto’s first-inning single made it 1-0, Houston tied the game at 1-1 before taking a 2-1 lead on wild pitches and an error.
However, the Angels responded quickly. Grissom singled to center in the second inning, scoring Ballesteros to tie the game at 2-2. Heineman followed with a sacrifice bunt that allowed Grissom to score, giving Los Angeles a 3-2 lead. Frazier added another run via an overturned challenge on a fielder’s choice play, making it 4-2.
