Safran Electrical & Power ISA has opened a new manufacturing facility in Chihuahua, marking the company's fifth plant in the state capital. The project involves an investment of $7.4 million and aims to expand production capacity within the global aeronautical supply chain.
The opening brings Safran's total number of facilities in Chihuahua to 13. The company has operated in the region for more than 35 years. This latest expansion is part of a broader strategy to strengthen its position as a major employer in the Mexican aerospace sector.
The new plant is expected to generate approximately 800 jobs. These positions will add to the more than 10,500 workers Safran currently employs in the state. The Electrical & Power division, which focuses on manufacturing electrical systems for aircraft, accounts for roughly 5,300 of those employees.
State officials highlighted the opening as evidence of foreign investment confidence in Chihuahua. The state is recognized as one of Mexico's primary aerospace hubs, contributing approximately 36 percent of the country's gross production in the sector. Officials noted that the company's operations support industrial development and specialized employment in the region.
The facility will operate using 100 percent renewable energy and electric climate control systems. These measures align with Safran's global strategy to reduce its carbon footprint. The company continues to expand its high-specialization aerospace manufacturing capabilities in Mexico.
